Sometimes an image comes in that is mesmerizing. The challenge is how to reveal its character and help it tell its own story. This image had incredible emotion, but it felt a little dim and claustrophobic. Adjusting the lighting, creating additional contrast, changing the color balance, working on the skin, fine-tuning makeup, and bringing out the eyes to create a strong finished image that retains all of the vulnerability of the original but also shows incredible beauty and resilience.
